Ombudsman welcomes the Health Service Executive initiative to promote its customer service programme

The Ombudsman stated that all public bodies have a duty to let the public know about internal complaints procedures and how to give feedback about services.
The Ombudsman said: “I am pleased that the HSE is also including information literature about my own Office which explains how people can have their complaints about hospital and other HSE services dealt with.
The HSE, along with my Office, other bodies in the health and social services sector (see list attached), and service user representatives, is also taking part in a separate public awareness campaign which will help people to make a complaint or raise an issue about health or social service provision. My Office is co-ordinating the work and I am delighted that so many bodies have committed to work together in the public interest and to help people understand the various options that are open to them."
