Lost at Sea Scheme - Ombudsman's Special Report

The Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, is not in a position to respond to queries she has received from the media in relation to reports that the Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has voted to reject her recommendation in the Lost at Sea Special Report. The media coverage suggests that the Committee is due to issue a report on the matter shortly.

The Ombudsman's views on the case are set out in her Special Report, in her evidence before the Committee at its hearing held on 21 April 2010 and in previous press releases issued by her Office. The outcome of the Committee's deliberations have not been communicated to the Ombudsman by the Committee to date. The Ombudsman will be commenting further on the matter when she is notified of the outcome by the Committee.
